My feeling is that mental illness is much more widespread than most believe, mainly because people are reluctant to discuss it openly due to stigma. Tha author, Ms. Longo-Bloom, is in a unique position to dispel the fears and misconceptions people hold onto and shed light on this very BIOLOGICAL condition. Ms. Longo-Bloom has certainly 'walked the walk', and is living proof that there are many resources out there that can help break through the darkness and allow for a high-functioning, productive and fulflling life. I urge the doubters out there to invest in her book Over the Rainbow, a Story of Life, love and Family with Bipolar Disorder. It will be money well spent.

To know Michelle is to be blessed. Her credibility stems not only from a degree in Child Psychology from Adelphi University, but also and more thoroughly from her life long battle with bipolar. Often, life deals us all a hand of cards that we doubt we can do anything with, but Michelle has done so much with her hand. Michelle battles her illness and all the hardships along the road with such courage and she has used her “hand of cards” for a two-fold purpose. Not only has she written her story in an effort to further understand this complicated disorder by informing the world of what it is really like to suffer from bipolar, but also in a laudable effort to help others. Her story is heartfelt and inspiring, and since the day I met Michelle, I have learned so much. This fun loving, witty woman will inspire you with her words and develop your mind. A book that is definitely worth reading and a woman that is definitely worth knowing.
